Again councils are in the news on how to save money on
street lighting, yet I never see any options for a totally free or close to
free option, am I the only person who thinks street lights could be lit for
free using solar technology and rechargeable batteries.
When I look at a street light I see a big pole which is roughly
the shape of a battery, well it’s cylindrical. So stick a solar panel on the
top of the light and put a long battery in the post, there you have it a free
light which should last for years for free. This has to be a better option than
those currently being explored by councils at the minute, which include dimming
them when no-one is about to switching them off all together.
When looking for solutions to problems usually the simplest
are the best.
